Standards and Technical Specifications

NEXTEL CUP Class

CHASSIS:                  Stock copper T-Jet chassis and parts only.  Press-on plastic wheels only.  Double flanged wheels are allowed.  AFX, TYCO, TOMY & LIFELIKE size wheels and tires.  Axle, wheel and tire combination cannot exceed 1 ¼ inches in width, front or rear measured at outside edges of tires.  Plastic spacers can be used on front axle.  Black tires only. 

 

BODY:                       Must be that of a car raced in NEXTEL CUP or WINSTON CUP competition from 1979 to present.  Body must have at least front and rear glass.  Body may be lowered and can be modified to mount screw posts or for tire clearance only.  No adding weight to bodies.

                                  

 

TECHNICAL:            Cars must pass axle, wheel and tire combination width gauge test (1¼ inches), magnet test and not exceed 1.20 volts on 4 second DYNO test in order to race.  In all cases a car’s compliance is the decision of the Technical Inspector or if Technical Inspector is not present, the Race Director.
